    Founded by Dr. Renee Dua after she spent seven hours in an emergency room with her infant son, Heal is for anyone who has felt frustrated by appointment wait times, scheduling conflicts, and unnecessary ER and urgent care visits. This telemedicine/house call doctor hybrid has set out to keep healthcare prices affordable, fix medical experiences for patients and doctors, and offer quality care.

    Virtual doctors and house call appointments are available 365 days a year from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in each patient’s time zone. Heal has completed over 150,000 house calls, saved patients more than $78 million, and has an NPS score of +83.

    All patients start out with a virtual medical consultation call to assess needs and get a clear picture of expectations. If a doctor feels a house call is in order, patients can make an appointment right in the app. 

    The main point of difference between Heal and other telemedicine companies is that they offer doctors who make house calls in addition to online medical services. Heal maintains that doctors can get a clearer picture of a patient’s life by checking out the medicines in the cabinet and food in the fridge. Heal house call doctors also spend more time with patients than most in-person doctors do.

    Is Heal.com Credible?

    Heal was founded by Renee Dua, a doctor who felt frustrated by emergency room care, waiting three weeks for doctor appointments, rushed visits, and germy waiting rooms. Sound familiar?

    All Heal doctors are hired through a careful vetting process; they are all licensed and credentialed. Since Heal is a telehealth and house-call platform, all doctors are trained in telemedicine and housecall medicine. They all have state-of-the-art medical tools and have the best medical technology at their disposal. 

    Doctors have licenses in the following specialties:

    All information on the Health website is secure against loss, theft, and unauthorized use. It will not be sold, shared, disclosed, or traded. 

    Should Heal experience a data breach, all users would be notified as soon as possible. 

    Heal maintains secured servers in secured data centers. All data is backed up regularly for added security. The company uses firewall technology and an intrusion prevention service to keep data secure. 

    User accounts may only be used by authorized users; the company uses SSL technology, and all passwords are encrypted.

    How Does Heal.com Work?

    The Heal app is easy to use and offers on-the-spot scheduling of house calls and virtual appointments. It’s available both for iPhone and Android. Patients can also call Heal by landline or smartphone. Services offered remotely include labs, imaging, referrals, and prescription refills. Get started with Heal in three easy steps:

    1. Log on to the app to book a house call or start a virtual doctor appointment.

    2. Chat with a doctor through the app or via landline or cellphone call.
    3. Your doctor can provide diagnosis, order labs, and offer treatment options right on the app or during the phone call.

        If you need a house call, you must first book an online appointment. Doctors can provide any service that would normally be treated in an urgent care clinic or primary care physician’s office online or in the home.

        On the day of your house call appointment, a licensed doctor and certified medical assistant (MA) will arrive by the scheduled time.

        The doctor will perform the exam, and the MA will assist the doctor by drawing labs and running tests. The doctor can answer any questions that may arise. Since the appointment takes place in your home, you’ll have plenty of face-time with both the doctor and MA. 

        Licensed physicians can also take a peek in the medicine cabinet to ensure all medications are necessary for the patient and don’t interact with each other. Physicians can also suggest vitamins and supplements, too.

        To set your preferred doctor, you can do so through the Heal app after your house call. You will get this doctor for each house call that you schedule in the future.

        Family members can all choose their own preferred doctors. 

        Share Your Health Records

        Many patients wish to share their health records with their other doctors and specialists. 

        You can do this right through the app; all your information is filed and easy to access right on your phone. Doctors can even order lab tests for patients and schedule follow-up care after an appointment. 


        Heal.com Does NOT treat Some Conditions 

        Heal offers two prongs of medical care: house calls and virtual visits. These two types of combined care ensure patients don’t need to travel too far for visits. This platform offers the widest range of services — hands-down — out of nearly any other online medical service provider we’ve reviewed. While Heal can assist with many types of medical ailments, it cannot offer the following:

        • Emergency room care
        • Extremely specialized care
        • At-home cancer treatments
        • House calls for patients located outside of Heal’s service zone 

        If you have an emergency medical condition, you should always call 911 or head straight to the emergency room. 

        Since Heal isn’t available in every city and state yet, many patients can’t take advantage of the platform’s highly specialized treatment options. If you don’t live in one of the states or cities where Heal is offered, we recommend checking out one of the other many online doctors or online/in-person hybrid medical providers in our network.

        Heal prides itself on transparent pricing — without any surprise bills or charges. All costs are quoted up-front. You’ll never get a bill after an appointment; instead, Heal charges your card or insurance at the time of the appointment.

        What Do We Think About Heal.com?

        We can’t help but love Heal’s hybrid approach to modern-day healthcare. A telemedicine platform that offers both online appointments and house calls? What more could we ask for? 

        While we’re super jazzed about Heal’s offerings, we did notice that its service areas are a bit limited. Online healthcare is offered in under 10 states (most online doctors offer telemedicine appointments in more than 30-to-50 states), and doctors only make house calls in select areas of the country (mostly in California and the Eastern Seaboard right now), leaving many rural areas out of luck when it comes to finding affordable healthcare through the app. 

        We were also surprised that Heal’s hours of operation were only 12 hours a day — instead of the typical 24-hour availability that most telemedicine platforms offer. 

        Yet despite all that, we can’t help but praise this platform for taking huge leaps to move the healthcare industry into the 21st century while refusing to abandon patients using traditional health insurance plans. Heal reviews mentioned that reviewers were relieved they could still use their health insurance plans to pay for both online and in-person treatments. 

        Heal’s prices are extremely fair and are inclusive to both individuals with or without medical health insurance. We also love the app’s transparent pricing and promise to never send users unexpected bills or charges.
