    Tokitus Company Overview

As the newest online therapy platform that we’ve reviewed thus far, Tokitus was founded in 2020 and is headquartered in Lithuania. Tokitus offers digital counseling in 14 languages through video and audio sessions and mostly services people throughout Europe, but is available in the U.S. as well. Like many online therapy platforms, Tokitus strives to make mental healthcare affordable, accessible, and available for everyone. Operating as a pay-as-you-go service, this sets Tokitus apart from most of their competitors, who charge a membership fee to utilize their therapy sessions.

Founded by Ulvia Avidan, a licensed therapist and current Ph.D. candidate in psychotherapeutic sciences at the University of Sigmund Freud in Vienna, with the vision to provide the best mental health support, all while still focusing on a commitment to full transparency and user safety. Tokitus provides its users with access to video or audio therapy sessions and 24/7 messaging support from licensed therapists and certified counselors from the comfort of their homes. You are able to book each session directly through their website. Tokitus reviewers appreciate that you can narrow down the therapist you’d like to see by what they specialize in or which language you prefer to speak in.

With Tokitus, you are able to get high-quality, convenient, and affordable access to licensed therapists that help you navigate the ups and downs of everyday life by employing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques that are especially useful for treating mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and trauma-related emotional distress.

    Is Tokitus Right for You?

Tokitus is an online therapy platform created to make therapy available to all. They believe that everyone should have access to mental health care regardless of where you are, what your schedule is like, or what your financial situation is. Tokitus offers online counseling with professional psychologists and therapists in a safe and confidential environment in various languages. To make things as easy and convenient, and comfortable as possible, they will match you with one of their therapists who best fit your needs and preferences to ensure that you get the best available care.

Tokitus will treat anyone wanting to take the steps necessary to deal with their mental health issues, including addiction, OCD, and eating disorders. The therapists employed by Tokitus are trained in a variety (11 to be exact) of therapy approaches and will work with you to discover a method that will work best for you. Regardless of your circumstance, Tokitus wants to take the burden out of ‘going to therapy’ and instead turn it into a place of refuge and emotional support.

    Is Tokitus Credible?

Having been founded by a Licensed Psychotherapist with 13 years of academic and nine years of professional experience, it is pretty safe to say that Tokitus can be considered legit. They profess that each of their therapists is professionally recruited and vetted. That they have a broad spectrum of credentials and many hours of hands-on therapy experience. Like any online therapy platform, they follow strict HIPAA guidelines and use the latest technology to protect personal data.

It is stated on their website that privacy is one of their top priorities -- that they go above and beyond to protect each patient’s confidentiality and that each of their mental health professionals follows laws, regulations, and ethical codes to maintain extreme privacy. The platform has a privacy policy and statement available on its website that outlines its data management practices for anyone worried about their data being shared or if it’s secure.

Tokitus reviewers appreciate that once you sign up on the platform, you are given the opportunity to see each professional’s experience and what they specialize in, as you should always feel confident in your therapist’s ability to treat your specific issues. It is critical to remember that even though Tokitus makes the process of choosing a therapist easy, that you do your own vetting to make sure you’re in the right hands.

Tokitus Does NOT Provide Services for Some Conditions

Even though online therapy has been proven to be just as effective as face-to-face therapy, it is not for everyone. Some conditions require more one-on-one attention, in-person sessions, or hospitalization. The professionals employed by Tokitus are not Psychiatrists and cannot diagnose or prescribe medications. Tokitus is NOT the right options for you if:

    • You are in a crisis or emergency situation

    • You are having suicidal thoughts or planning on hurting yourself or others

    • You want a clinical assessment or diagnosis

    How Much Does Tokitus Cost?

Tokitus strives to provide affordable mental healthcare for all and charges 50 Euros (about $60) per session. Each private video or audio session will last about 50 minutes and can be canceled up to the 24th hour in advance without penalty. Once you’ve booked your first session, your credit card will be charged, and any subsequent sessions are automatically charged to the same registered card 12 hours before your next scheduled session. You can revoke the payment method at any time in the case that you want to use a different credit card.

Like in-person therapy, Tokitus therapists recommend what they believe to be an ideal treatment schedule based on each patient’s specific mental health concerns and goals.

What Do We Think About Tokitus?

Tokitus might be the newest player in the online therapy game, but this doesn’t mean they aren’t experienced, mental health professionals. Tokitus seems to honestly want to transform the way we approach therapy by making it easy, convenient, and affordable. We like Tokitus because not only do they try to make the process of finding a therapist that’s ideal for you, but they offer therapy in 14 languages to people from around the globe. Even though their company is in its infancy, Tokitus reviews are positive and boast things like, “it was easy to book an appointment” and “my therapist made me feel heard.” Tokitus seems to put their user’s needs first by connecting each patient with qualified therapists that specialize in a wide variety of conditions, allowing them to do their own vetting before their first session. Bottom line -- If you’re looking for a mental health professional that’s globally-minded and speaks multiple languages, Tokitus could be a great place to start your therapy journey.
