Sumatriptan is an acute prescription medication for migraine treatment that offers relief during migraine episodes. This medication is only intended for use by adults and should not be used to prevent cluster headaches. Sumatriptan targets the brain to relieve the pain caused by migraine headaches. With Sumatriptan, most users will find total relief from the pain caused by migraines while others claim that the pain becomes far less severe, allowing them to focus on their daily activities. This medication is usually prescribed for those whose migraines can’t be treated using acetaminophen, aspirin, or other pain relievers. Sumatriptan is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Possible Side Effects of Sumatriptan

• Swelling of the fingers, hands, feet, or lower legs

• Trouble breathing

Rare Side Effects

It is recommended that you contact your doctor immediately if one or more of these occur:

• Blindness

• Increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid

• Nerve pain

• Severe numbness, especially on one side of the face or body

• Severe stomach pain

• Twitching

• Unusual bleeding or bruising

• Vomiting of blood or materials that look like coffee grounds

• Weakness of the arms and legs
