Best Medical Devices

Check out these medical devices, including breast pumps, wearable ED devices, CPAP sleep machines, and medical alert devices!

Table of content

Medical devices can make our lives easier — and possibly even save them. From breast pumps to erectile dysfunction rings to sleep machines and life alert buttons, these medical devices are easy to use, affordable, and some are even covered by health insurance.

All of the medical devices on this list are considered some of the most sophisticated medical devices (and service providers) on the market. These companies have filled a hole in the breast pump, ED, medical alert, and sleep apnea markets by responding to patients’ most common needs.

Breast Pumps

Did you know that every expecting mother has the right to be reimbursed for one breast pump per pregnancy under most health insurance plans? The extra-good news is that Willow Pump and Aeroflow make getting reimbursed through your health plan even easier. While Willow Pump makes and sells breast pumps, Aeroflow simply sells them online — and helps moms-to-be get reimbursed for pumps through their insurance plans.

Willow Pump

We’re just going to go ahead and say it: the Willow Pump is pretty darn cool. This hands-free breast pump allows you to pump while you go about your day.

Simply attach a bag or BPA-free plastic container to the pump, and latch the pump to your breast (very similar to a baby’s latch). Tuck the pump in your bra or sports bra, and do whatever you’d be doing if you weren’t pumping!

Since this pump is considered the creme de la creme of breast pumps, not all of the $400 cost is covered by health insurance (though you can use your benefit toward a portion of the product’s cost).

You can also use HSA and FSA funds to purchase pumps and accessories.

Aeroflow

Aeroflow may not manufacture breast pumps, but this company does everything in its power to ensure you get your pump paid for by your health insurance company!

When you buy a pump on Aeropump’s website, you can fill out your insurance information when checking out, and a benefits specialist will contact your health insurance provider for payment.

Your breast pump doesn’t ship until your health benefits provider confirms your eligibility (and some plans don’t allow pumps to ship until a certain number of weeks before your due date anyway).

You can also use your HSA and FSA funds to purchase pumps and accessories. This is especially handy if you’re planning on buying a pump that costs more than your health insurance benefit allows.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) Devices

Did you know that ED affects about 40% of men by age 40 and around 70% by age 70? ED can even happen to gentlemen in their early 20s. Yes, you might be saying that when it comes to ED pills, the market is saturated. However, if meds just aren’t your thing, do as Beyonce says, and ‘put a ring on it.’

A wearable medical ring, that is. One of the newest ways to tackle ED symptoms is by using a wearable device specifically designed to treat erectile dysfunction and improve male sexual performance. It’s called Eddie, and it’s an FDA Registered Class II medical device that is available over-the-counter, so there’s no need to have an uncomfortable conversation with your doctor; you simply visit the Eddie by Giddy website, choose your size, and days later it will show up on your doorstep in discreet packaging. No pills or side effects to worry about.

This wearable device fits precisely onto the base of the penis and unlike other wearable ED treatments, Eddie by Giddy doesn't constrict the blood vessels or put too much pressure on the veins or urethra, which can lead to uncomfortable ejaculation. It is designed to mimic the anatomy of an erect penis, allowing the penis to function at the highest level possible, giving both partners a pleasurable experience.

Sleep CPAP Devices

CPAP stands for continuous positive airway pressure therapy. Sleep CPAP devices provide relief from sleep apnea. These machines force air into the airways and lungs while you sleep. They force open collapsed airways, allowing you to breathe normally throughout the night.

Benefits of CPAP Devices

If you suffer from sleep apnea, your doctor might recommend wearing a CPAP sleeping device. These devices can help you sleep better, wake more rested, and breathe easily while you’re sleeping.

The most common downside to wearing a CPAP device is that most of these devices are cumbersome, clunky, and uncomfortable. Imagine getting a good night’s sleep while wearing a humidifier strapped to your face. It’s hard to do.

Lofta is the world’s smallest CPAP device. The best part is that you can get screened for a sleeping device right in the comfort of your own home (instead of in a sleep center).

The Lofta mask is more comfortable than most CPAP machine masks. Its tubes and wires are less intrusive than the ones provided by most other sleep machine manufacturers.

We love Lofta because it's all about helping patients get a higher quality of sleep — without even leaving the bedroom.

Medical Alert Devices

Medical alert devices do just as their name suggests: alert medical authorities when you need help. These devices are ideal for people with mobility issues, the elderly, and the disabled.

If you need help and can’t get to a phone, simply press a button, and help will be on the way soon.

These devices allow patients the freedom they would normally need to give up. Living alone, driving, and other activities and lifestyles can be dangerous if you’re more likely to fall or get hurt. The ability to call for help makes serious injury much less likely.

The biggest downside to most medical alert devices is that they must be worn around the neck (on a lanyard) or on the wrist. Your loved one will need to be conscious and alert enough to push a button after a fall.

Both of these medical alert devices can call for help — without requiring any button-pushing.

Help Button

Help Button is a lightweight button that is monitored by TMA-certified care specialists 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The device can share the GPS location of the wearer and detects falls — and instantly calls the monitoring center.

Users can immediately cancel the emergency dispatch if the ‘fall’ was a false alarm.

Caregivers can even be alerted to when the Help Button is activated, offering clear communication to everyone that needs to be updated on a loved one’s medical condition.

Get Safe

Get Safe has been in the business of safety for more than half a decade. Originally started as a home safety company, it naturally started offering safety devices for seniors and people with mobility issues, too.

This medical alert device allows users to get voice-activated help without wearing a device around their wrists or necks.

Simply call out if you need medical help, and a dispatcher will be on the line shortly. For an extra fee each month, Get Safe can even monitor a loved one’s home for falls and smoke detector alarms.

Not all medical devices are perfect, but we think the breast pumps, sleep apnea machines, and medical alert devices on this list come pretty close to perfection. All of these products help people live healthier, happier, and safer lives.

If you need a breast pump, ED device, CPAP machine, or a medical alert device, we recommend checking out one of the above companies.
